Acting Deputy Executive Director of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Carminda Arevalo, who just visited the city as she witness the signing of the Certificate of Transfer of the historical marker of Jose Rizal sa Dumaguete Thursday afternoon, give cash reward to Pedicab driver who returned her cellphone left inside the pedicab.
Arevalo who just left Dumaguete going to Manila Friday morning, give the cash reward placed inside an envelope to the member of the Traffic Management Office who she claimed her cellphone.
TMO Chief Danny Atillo, immediately contacted the Pedicab driver with body 1026 to hand over the reward.
After, the driver identified as Miller Rio Janayan, came to the TMO Office, Atillo called up the City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling,Jr. to accompanied him to the office of the Mayor to hand over the cash reward.
Finally, Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria handed over the cash reward and expressed his admiration to Janayan for being example to his fellow pedicab drivers in the city for his exceptional display of honesty for returning, the Blackberry Cellpone, owned by the officials of National Historical Commission of the Philippine.
Sagarbarria said Janayan was out to prove that ordinary people are capable of doing extraordinary deeds for the betterment of society.
In an interview, Janayan said, he did not noticed the said cellphone left inside his tricycle, when the cellphone ring, he even not answer the call and proceed to the TMO office and turned over so that the owner can claim high valued cellphone.
Janayan who did not give details said, he surprised when a member of TMO approached and told him to proceed to the office of the TMO.
The NHCP Official gives P1,OOO to Janayan as a reward for his good deeds and so that others may follow his example.
