OK Mart has, for some time now, stopped using plastic shopping bags, and is now offering different sizes of brown paper bags marked with “OK Mart”.
This move deserves mention and recognition because although the City’s Plastics Regulation Ordinance #231 has yet to be implemented in August, OK Mart’s Boy and Vivein Matiao-Ong have taken their corporate social responsibility to a new level — by not waiting to do the right thing.
First it was Fortune Mart, and now we have OK Mart.
(Notice the word ‘Mart’ in the name of both establishments. Perhaps Mart is an acronym for ‘Make A Right Turn’ for the better.) (Leo G Mamicpic/FENOr)
