The Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI) has been chosen as one of the top five finalists in the World Chambers Competition, on September 19 in Sydney, Australia.
The International Chamber of Commerce made the announcement in its website last week.
The NOCCI’s qualifying project is the Trade Tourism and Investment Promotion, which supports the NOCCI’s advocacy of promoting inclusive economic growth and championing local economic development through public private partnerships between various government an non-government institutions and organizations.
NOCCI Executive Director John Jalandoni said NOCCI will be competing against international chambers from Colombia, United Kingdom, Turkey and Iran for the Best Job Creation and Business Development Chamber Project. He said all the Chamber’s efforts to support local economic development are now acknowledged by no less than the International Chamber of Commerce.
For his part, NOCCI President Edward Du congratulated the officers and members of the NOCCI for this accomplishment. The NOCCI had obtained top honors in the Philippines by being awarded Most Outstanding Chamber in the Visayas and in the Philippines for two times in a row–from 2015 and 2016. It was also chosen by the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry as the Most Outstanding Chamber of Commerce in Asia Pacific last year.
Du, who was elected NOCCI President in 2011, said the Chamber is now preparing for its presentation in Sydney, which he hopes would nail the international award for the NOCCI. (AP)
