Workers building the Central Block of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital have adopted a 16-hour daily work schedule to beat the December 2015 deadline.
The work is being done in two shifts, said Provincial Treasurer Danilo Mendez, who chairs the Bids and Awards Committee.
The construction of the central block finally started after a five-year delay from the time it was conceived by then Governor Emilio Macias II.
The four-storey building is estimated to cost P350 million.
Mendez told reporters that the provincial government has already released the amount of P51.7 million to the contractor. The next fund releases will be in tranches, pursuant to the policy of progress billing.
Mendez said the Commission on Audit will follow up the expenditures by stages more funds will be released. (PR)
