Three hundred boys aged 6 to 8 and 16 to 17 participated in the one-and-a-half month annual summer football clinic conducted by the Negros Oriental Football Asociation Inc. from April 9 to May 19 at the Silliman University ballfield.
The clinic was sponsored by the City of Dumaguete through the endorsement of Dumaguete Mayor Manuel T. Sagarbarria, who is also NORFA vice president.
The clinic drew attention from several individuals, such as Stefan Waldburger, a Swiss-Filipino, whose mother hails from Dumaguete City. Waldburger is managing director of Torrex Consulting Inc. based in Fribourg, Switzerland, which will soon be assembling and distributing electronic tricycles in Dumaguete to help reduce carbon emissions.
Waldburger assisted NORFA President Dick Emperado in giving out awards, and an assortment of Puma products, 40 football shoes, balls, and goalkeeper gloves for the outstanding participants of the clinic, which was facilitated by Silliman High School coach and NORFA director Frank Caballes.
