The Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA)-Anthony’s FC beat the national team to win the 5th Pintaflores National U16 invitational Football Cup, 4-2 via penalty shootout in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The Little Azkals team was a contender for the national championship as they won all their games in the eliminations.

The Cebu Daily News reported that the Little Azkals made the first goal 35 minutes into the game, but it was immediately equalized by NORFA barely a minute later and remained at 1-all at halftime.

The Little Azkals again scored in the 55th minute, giving them a one-point advantage. Just when it looked like the Little Azkals would go home with the championship trophy, the NORFA booters scored on the 77th minute and forced an extension with a score of 2-2.

The extension resulted in a stalemate which led to the penalty kick, giving NORFA the winning a two-point advantage. (PR)
