An alumnus of Negros Oriental State University topped the 2010 National Qualifying Examination for Principals nationwide, Education Sec. Armin A. Luistro announced in a DepEd Memorandum congratulating Region VII, specifically NORSU for producing the first placer.

NORSU President Dr. Henry A. Sojor said the first placer is Bemar D. Torres who got a rating of 99.99 percent. Torres is a graduate of NORSU Bais, Batch 2001. He is now head teacher in the Division of Bais City.

Given the cut-off score of 90 percentile, a total of 994 examinees hurdled the exam, representing approximately 9.5 percent of the total aspirants of 9,778.

The qualifying exam for principals was simultaneously administered nationwide on Jan. 23. The items were spread across the nine performance areas or leadership experience dimensions of school heads. (Joy Perez/NORSU PR)
