Negros Oriental State University-Dumaguete City will hold its 58th Commencement Exercises on Tuesday, March 22, with some 1,770 candidates for graduation. Twenty of these are with Latin honors: three summa cum laude and 17 magna cum laude.
The three summa cum laude belong to the College of Arts & Sciences: Efren Aguilar of Santander, Cebu (BS-Mathematics); Arean Fel Dorio of Dumaguete (BS-Geology); and Jirah Kim Quinamot of Siaton (BS-Geology).
Among the external campuses, only NORSU-Guihulngan has a summa cum laude, Rosebel Ybanez (BS-Criminology).
Of the 17 magna cum laude recipients, five completed BS-Business Administration, two earned BS-Criminology, two are in BS-Psychology, two finished Bachelor of Secondary Education; and one graduate each earned a Bachelor of Mass Communication, BS-Accountancy, BS-Agriculture, BS-Computer Science, BS-InfoTech, and BS-Mathematics.
University Registrar Reymil Cadapan said the activities start at 7 a.m. with a baccalaureate mass at the Lamberto Macias Sports & Cultural Center, followed by the graduation rites.
Guest speaker is Prof. Leonor Magtolis-Briones, professor emeritus of the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration & Governance in Diliman, Quezon City. Professor Briones is also chair of the Silliman University Board of Trustees. (Joy Perez)
