Monday, June 25 marks the 8th Charter Day Anniversary for Negros Oriental State University: the conversion from a state college status, Central Visayas Polytechnic College, to a state university on June 25, 2004 through R.A. 9299.
Dr. Henry A. Sojor is the first president of NORSU, from August 19, 2004 to July 12, 2008. Then, NORSU’s Board of Regents Resolution #5 Series of 2008 was issued: “approving the reappointment of Dr. Sojor as NORSU President from July 13, 2008 to July 12, 2012” — signed by the BOR Members led by Commission for Higher Education Commissioner Nona S. Ricafort.
Activities for this year’s anniversary celebration are Thanksgiving Mass, all-university academic convocation, and lunch fellowship for faculty, staff, administration and guests.
Dr. Peter Dayot, vice president for planning, research and international linkages, said after the lunch fellowship at Bethel Guest House, an entertainment program dubbed as NORSU 8th Charter Day Anniversary Celebration After Lunch Show will be presented.
Dayot said the show will surely make everybody happy. The theme is: “Great Women in History, what you don’t know about them.” There will be raffle draws, and there will be talent offerings from Guihulngan Campus, Bayawan-Sta. Catalina Campus, Mabinay Campus, Bais City Campuses, College of Agriculture-Forestry and Pamplona Campus, Main Campus I and Main Campus II in Dumaguete City and from the Parents and Alumni Associations.
