NORSU faculty talks safety sea navigation in Burma

A faculty member of Negros Oriental State University, presented a paper titled Ensuring Safety of Navigation at Sea: A Linguistic Discourse Analysis during a four-day conference in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (Burma).

Ralph Cardeño was the lone participant from the Philippines in this year’s edition of the international conference bearing the theme, Maritime English: Improving Language Communication and Culture. The paper he presented was co-authored by Prof. Consolacion Unabia and Dr. Don Vicente Real.

The conference was a global gathering of maritime classroom practitioners aimed to improve and enhance the standards of methods in the teaching of maritime English. It was co-hosted by the Uniteam Marine Training Center and Myanmar Maritime University.

This year’s other participants came from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Singapore, Japan, France, China, Turkey, Ukraine and Myanmar. (Joy Perez)
