Negros Oriental State University Alumni Association (NORSUAA) this year names six outstanding alumni. Two of them are working abroad and four others are here in the Philippines.
The two outstanding alumni working abroad are Dr. Alfredo Hurtado, Jr. in the field of electronics and motion film printing technology in Sydney, Australia and Engr. Joel Artus in the field of electrical engineering and civil aviation in Kuwait.
Hurtado graduated from Central Visayas Polytechnic College (CVPC) in 1982 with B.S. in Industrial Education (BSIE) major in electronics technology. He served as assistant dean, College of Technician Education, June 1982-Dec. 1998. Artus graduated high school from then East Viasayas School of Arts and Trade (EVSAT) in 1978.
The four others are: Capt. Abdias Elnar, maritime educational management; Dr. Rolito Estrellado, electropneumatics and mechatronic technology; Dr. Dexter Aguilar, educational administration and leadership; and Virgilio Barba, organic farming technology.
Elnar graduated high school from EVSAT in 1972 (salutatorian). Estrellado graduated BSIE from CVPC in 1988 and Master in Technology Education from NORSU in 2005. Aguilar also graduated BSIE from CVPC in 1985, but earlier in 1978 had a short-term vocational training in machine shop practice. Barba graduated high school from EVSAT in 1973 and a college graduate of CVPC in 1979.
The six alumni will receive special recognitions on Wednesday, December 2 during the NORSU Alumni Day. (Joy Perez)
