The Negros Oriental State University will host a three-day regional Philippine Association of State Universities & Colleges Culture & Arts Festival on Nov. 24-26.
Some 600 delegates from four participating SUCs in the Negros Island Region will compete in the Festival: Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in Bacolod City, Central Philippines State University in Kabankalan City, and Northern Negros State College of Science & Technology in Sagay, Negros Occidental.
NORSU President Dr. Joel Limson is currently president of PASUC-NIR.
Runelo Pinero, arts & cultural affairs director, said the festival has eight main events for competitions: Literary Arts (Filipino), Literary Arts (English); Quiz Bowl; Visual Arts; Dance; Music; Performing Arts, and the Mr. & Miss PASUC 2016.
Literary Arts in both English and in Filipino have three categories: extemporaneous speech, storytelling, and essay writing.
Dance has four categories: folk, indigenous, contemporary, and hip-hop.
Music has six categories: pop solo, vocal solo (kundiman), vocal duet, chorale, instrumental solo, and live band.
Performing arts has two categories: radio drama and sweet play.
Visual arts also has two categories: on-the-spot printing, and pencil-rendering. (Joy G Perez)
