The Negros Oriental Sports Program (NOSDEP) just concluded the Dauin Duathlon 21, a two-discipline sport that involves running and mountain biking, held in celebration of the Dauin town fiesta.

The Dauin Duathlon 21 was organized by Dauin Mayor Neil Credo, together with the Philippine National Police, the Rural Health Unit and the barangays of Dauin, with the assistance from Gov. Roel Degamo. The Dauin Duathlon 21 was also assisted by the Metro Dumaguete Roadrunners Club headed by Engr. Deo Salem, D’ Corner Bike Shop owned by mountain biker Arnel Maputi, and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary headed by Cmdr. Jonathan Lester Alerre.

Headed by Paultom Paras, NOSDEP has,for the past year, been promoting other multi-disciplined sports like triathlons (swim-bike-run) and aquathlons (swim-run) in an effort to coordinate the mushrooming conduct of various sports events and races, and to primarily help promote wellness in the Province.

This year alone, the Provincial Government assisted the Sibulan Triathlon on June 8 in time for the the Sibulan fiesta, the Valencia Duathlon on July 8, and hosted the Negros Oriental Indoor Aquathlon on Sept. 1.

Upcoming events include the ONe Ultra 65-kilometer ultramarathon on Sept. 21, and the One Ultra 100-kilometer ultramarathon in December. (PR)
