Three batches of student nurses from the College of Nursing had their Candlelighting, Capping, Dedication and Pinning Ceremonies on July 11 at Sofia Soller Sinco Hall.

The event represented a new chapter in the life of the student nurses, signifying the start of hospital duty for the Nursing Class of 2016- Eco-Warriors and the Class of 2017-Finishers.

For the Class of 2014- The Eagles, it marked the end of their duty at Holy Child Hospital and at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.

A mass was celebrated by Msgr. Julius Perpetuo S. Heruela, university chaplain.

Dinah B. Peñaflorida, associate professor of Nursing at the Sta. Monica College in California, gave an inspirational message to this year’s batch, reminding them of the beauty and novelty of the nursing profession.

Pellan Rey Capuyan, gave the Senior’s Challenge, to which Bryan Cassion replied through the Sophomore’s Response.

Nursing Dean Nenita P. Tayko bestowed the nurse’s cap to student nurses as their proud parents looked on.

Now on its 10th year, the College of Nursing has continuously produced nurses embodying the core values of caring for a patient, team, hospital, community and profession.

State-of-the-art facilities are readily available for proper training, together with the competent teachers.

For the recent Nursing Licensure Examination, Foundation University posted a passing rate of 81 percent, well above the national rate. (Febby Marton Rule)
