The Clint Besario MMA Training Camp is finally affiliated with team Fabricio International, and can now officially join foreign competitions.

The dignified coach of Pure Muscle Gym, Master Clint Besario, who has more than 20 years of experience in the mixed martial arts scene, finally met the head of Team Fabricio-Cebu, Sensei Ali Malawi.

Both masters of MMA united to combine forces for a greater good, producing homegrown talents from all over the province of Negros Oriental, and who knows, discover other potential athletes from other parts of the country.

Master Clint and Sensei Ali first met at the first ever Clint Besario Invitational (CBI), a submission grappling competition that gained praises from the MMA community for pulling off a highly-successful event on Aug 12 this year.

That CBI was graced by renowned teams from Cebu namely Vagabond MMA, including Sensei Ali Malawi’s team Fabricio Cebu, and from Negros Island, namely Pure Muscle Gym, and the Siaton-based Sumaliring Wolfpack.

Both masters share the same character of humility, a common foundation with one goal: to bring the Juijitsu community together, overcoming divisiveness and discrimination, helping each student to achieve his/her full potential, and improving their overall character and lifestyle.

Sensei Ali’s visit covered getting familiar with the Juijitsu syllabus in preparation for future belt promotion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).

BJJ, the so-called Gentleman’s Art, is a martial art and combat sport based on ground fighting and submission holds. Jiujitsu focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, with the goal to establish control over the opponent, and gain dominant position, followed by a series of techniques to force them into submission, and tap out.

Team Fabricio Cebu is nobly known to be under the lineage of the legend Prof. Stephen Kamphuis, a 4th degree BJJ black belt (graded in Brazil and awarded in September 2012), and a 2nd degree Judo black belt (graded in New Zealand).

Before coming to the Philippines, Professor Stephen was the first person from New Zealand and Australia to hold black belts in both Judo and BJJ granted by the respective global federations, the International Judo Federation, and the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

Currently, Professor Stephen is the head coach of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation of Philippines.

We were lucky to communicate with him via Messenger, and although it was done virtually, Professor Stephen Kamphuis officially recognized Master Clint Besario, head coach of Pure Muscle Gym in Dumaguete City, as one of his accredited affiliates.

It was a quick rendezvous but a mark of a new beginning.

Fighters and/or grapplers from Pure Muscle Gym are now set to prepare for upcoming tournaments, now finally able to participate in International BJJ competitions.

Finally, the Clint Besario MMA Training Camp at Pure Muscle Gym, one of the oldest and renowned training grounds for good martial arts in the country, and deservingly recognized as “home of the champions” is now officially affiliated and certified as Fabricio International-Negros Island.

Until then, Oss! And see you on the mats!
