Police have arrested a father who is suspected of killing his wife and their two children and wounding their youngest child inside their home in barangay Tambulan, Tayasan town last Friday.
A report from the Original Energy FM Manager Florence Baesa said, the father, Wirlie Islao, 24, became the suspect of the gruesome killing of his wife Mercy, 22, and children Larabelle, 5, and Siegwilfred, 6, after police found his blood-stained slippers at the scene of the crime.
Werlie earlier claimed he was away at that time of the incident. His slippers were taken to a laboratory for examination.
Police said the victims were found hacked to death in various parts of the body. Two-year-old Annabelle is confined at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, recovering from a stab wound in her lower left chest.
The report quoted Insp. Fred Redira, acting police chief of Tayasan, as saying that Werlie is also suspected to be behind the series of thefts of farm animals in the neighborhood.
Redira said that two years ago, an unidentified armed man went inside their house, and had threatened Werlie’s family. A member of Werlie’s group was also killed recently, he added.
