The PAG-Ibig Fund Branch here plans to ink a memorandum of understanding with local and national government offices in Negros Oriental to help their job order (JO) employees become active members of PAG-Ibig Fund.
Member Services Officer of PAG-Ibig Fund Dumaguete City Branch Perlie Boy Rosal said, the MOU will allow job order employees to pay their contributions to PAG-Ibig.
Presently, job order or contractual employees are exempted from PAG-Ibig Fund deductions because of the “no employer-employee relationship” clause stipulated in their contracts.
With this initiative, contractual employees can expect that part of their salary goes to the payment of their PAG-Ibig contributions.
Rosal explained that once government institutions tie up with PAG-Ibig Fund for the member contribution of contractual employees, P200 will be deducted from their salaries. These deductions will be directly remitted to PAG-Ibig.
It is the same amount paid by self employed or voluntary members of PAG-Ibig Fund. The Fund considers Contractual employees as volunteer or self employed members of PAG-Ibig.
The move aims to enroll all contractual employees in government in the PAG-Ibig Fund membership since the R.A. 9679 states all employees working in private and government institutions, earning 1,000 and above automatically become members of PAG-Ibig Fund.
“PAG-Ibig Fund is for employees earning P1,000, and if they (contractual employees) want to become members of PAG-Ibig Fund, they can come to our office and apply for self employed or individual payer,” Rosal said in an interview after a briefing to the members of Association of Negros Oriental Public Information Officers.
Once contractual employees become active members of PAG-Ibig they can now avail the various loan programs of the state housing loan agency as well as its savings program for its members.
Aside from this, Rosal also told ANOPIO members that PAG-Ibig is open to conduct briefings to the local government units to inform them on the latest services and loan programs.
With these, PAG-Ibig Fund Dumaguete City Branch hopes to reach more people and invite them to become active members of the agency.
Meanwhile, PAG-Ibig Dumaguete City Branch announced that starting April 14, 2014 the office can now be found at ML Teves St. behind the West City Elementary School and near the Perpetual Help Credit Cooperative (PHCCI). Its transfer to a new location will enable the agency to accommodate and serve more people. (mbcn/RAL/PIA7-NEGOR)
