Agustin G. Fontillas, Jr., the pastor who became the subject of over 200 complaints from people who invested in his company AGF’s “Buy and Earn” program, turned himself in to the National Bureau of Investigation out of fear for his life and that of his family.
Fontillas lured investors to put in huge sums of money, promising to double it in one month. He was estimated to have liabilities of P100 million.
In a press conference at the NBI office last Thursday, Fontillas vowed to return all the money entrusted by his investors.
“Willing ko nga moatubang sa akong mga obligasyon sa mga tawo. Boluntaryo ning akong pagpa-turn over sa NBI para sa among seguridad, sa akong pamilya ug kaugalingon,” Fontillas told reporters.
Fontillas fled to Bacolod some two weeks ago after claiming to have received death threats from unpaid investors.
He was traced by the NBI through his cellphone signal to his Bacolod hideout.
He will be charged for violation of the Securities Regulation Code and Estafa, NBI Dumaguete chief Hermie Monsanto told reporters.
