Seventy three seniors from Piapi High School received their diplomas in simple ceremonies held April 3, 2011.

“It is indeed an honor for us to be part of the pioneering graduates of Piapi High School,” said Jerum E. Lumagod, who graduated valedictorian in the class. “With competent and dedicated teachers, you are definitely sure to get a quality secondary education here and it’s for free,” he added.

The top five honor students include Jennifer R. Duca, salutatorian; Madelyn B. Ayunting, 1st honorable mention; Jhun Rey G. Duran, 2nd honorable mention; and Jaydee B. Amposta, 3rd honorable mention.

The graduation ceremony was attended by parents, teachers and officials of the Department of Education Division of Dumaguete City led by Dr. Emigdio B. Omictin who was also guest speaker.

In his graduation speech, Omictin encouraged the graduates to strive for higher education. He said should “be equipped and update yourselves with the latest technology especially we are in this fast-changing world”.

Piapi High School, formerly the Dumaguete City Technical & Vocational School , was established as a satellite school of the Dumaguete City High School in 2007. On July 15, 2010, the permit to operate it as Piapi High School was approved by the DepEd Region 7 through the initiative of Omictin. Today after four years of operation, it has nine classes with a total enrolment of about 407 students managed by 13 teachers and supervised by the administrators of the North City Elementary School.
