The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group has arrested a resident of Piapi, Dumaguete, after a search yielded unlicensed firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition Tuesday.
Suspect was identified as Francisco Salvador Jr, 34 years old, single, jobless who yielded two Cal. 45 pistols with four magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition.
Also recovered are three pieces ammo box, one set cleaning kit, two pieces sling bag, one back pack, 71 empty shells for cal. 5.56 mm firearm and a long barrel of an unknown firearm.
CIDG7 Negros Oriental provincial head Police Lt Col Ariel T Huesca disclosed a search warrant was applied for following a complaint from a barangay resident that Salvador would threaten everybody in the house while holding his firearm whenever he gets drunk.
Before the search, Huesca discovered that Salvador is not among the registered holders of a firearm license.
The CIDG was aided by other operating units from the provincial command and the Dumaguete City police.
The firearms confiscated are submitted for ballistic examinations to determine if such firearms were used in other crimes.
Charges for violation of RA 10591 otherwise known as the comprehensive firearms law were filed against the suspect. (Juancho Gallarde)
