Pizza parlor falls for ‘load’ prank

Some people have taken the art of swinding for a measly cellphone load to a higher level.

A pizza outlet discovered this when they were left holding the pizza after giving load to a “doctor” who also asked for a cellphone load of P1,000 — which they freely gave.

Daphne Padriga Padilla of Neva’s Pizza in barangay Piapi, cautioned establishments that cater to free deliveries, like pizza houses, burger houses and the like to be extra careful in receiving orders by phone.

According to Padilla, they received a phoned-in order for 21 boxes of pizza from a caller who identified himself as a well-known doctor who lived nearby. He asked that the pizza be delivered to the hospital, where at least five doctors are contributing for the payment.

While on the way to the hospital to deliver the ordered pizza, Padilla was told by the caller to add soft drinks and paper plates which she didn’t mind because the order was more than P4,000.

The caller then asked her for a cellphone load of P600 to be added to the payables in the name of another doctor.

Since only P500 was loaded, the caller requested for another P500. And she obliged.

When she reached the hospital, Padilla went to the clinic of the “doctor” who ordered the PHP 1000 cellphone load, only to be told by the secretary that the phone number was an unknown number. Worse, the first “doctor” who made the order for 21 pizzas was out of town.

After realizing that she was swindled, Padilla distributed the pizza to hospital workers at the information office, the construction workers outside the hospital and to personnel at the police station while reporting the swindling incident. (JG)
