President Benigno Simeon Aquino III will lead in the blessing and inauguration of the P242-million modern market complex in Bais City, Negros Oriental on Sept. 7, according to Bais Mayor Karen Villanueva.
Mayor Villanueva on Thursday said she believes one of the reasons for the President to come to the inauguration of the said facility, dubbed the Mercado de Bais, is because it is one of a kind in the country.
Started during the term of her father, former Bais Mayor Hector Villanueva, the 100 percent completed project boasts of a sewage treatment plant, an ice-making plant, a cold storage system, a child-minding center, a traveler’s lounge and a private commercial area, according to Mayor Karen Villanueva.
Occupants of the existing satellite market in Bais City will be moved to the Mercado de Bais following the inauguration, she added.
Other activities for President Aquino III during his visit to Negros Oriental are still being arranged by the Presidential Management Staff, the Bais mayor also said. (JFP/PNA)
