Philippine National Police Provincial Director of Negros Oriental, Sr. Supt. Dionard Carlos has distributed 22 brand new radio sets to the police stations just in time for the celebration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

This is the second distribution of brand new radio handsets this year, according to Sr. Supt. Carlos. The first batch was distributed in August, he added.

The police stations from smaller towns or that need more radio handsets without having received donations of the same from other sources will be prioritized.

Some police stations in cities like Dumaguete constantly receive radio handsets from the local government or even private institutions like Foundation University and Silliman University.

A third purchase for more radio handsets is being eyed in December, according to Sr. Supt. Carlos.

Each batch consists of at least 22 to 25 units bought with funds allocated by the provincial government through the Provincial Peace and Order Council chaired by Gov. Roel Degamo, he said.

The PNP continues to be on heightened alert with most of its uniformed personnel deployed to places of convergence, such as the cemeteries, ports and passenger terminals as people are expected to flock to the provinces to visit their departed loved ones this weekend through Monday. (PNA/JFP)
