The Negros Oriental Philippine National Police Provincial Office conducted a two-day Police Correspondents’ training to improve the reporting skills of policemen in the field, so that they are able to provide accurate information to the public in “real time”.

The training, dubbed as Pulis Corres, reeled off Thursday at the NOPPO headquarters at Camp Fernandez in Sibulan town.

Sr. Supt. Dionardo Carlos, OIC PNP provincial director, opened the training attended by about 60 PNP personnel from the different police units in the Province.

According to him, the Pulis Corres training aimed to have the police as reporters in the field so that the public is informed of the latest incidents in the different cities and municipalities in Negros Oriental.

The reports will be relayed through commercial radio stations, giving the listeners the freshest news or updates on public safety issues and concerns, he added.

There will be two police patrollers per city or municipality to be trained as a police correspondent, said Sr. Supt. Carlos.

Members of the local media were guest lecturers on broadcast reporting and basic news writing, among others. (PNA/JFP)
