The Philippine National Police on Thursday officially activated its 18th Police Regional Office in Negros Island Region in line with President Marcos Jr.’s directive to enhance security and governance in the newly established region.
In a statement, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said the activation of the PRO-NIR was based on the Jan. 9 resolution of the National Police Commission under Republic Act 12000, which established the region.
The Napolcom resolution approved the transfer of administrative supervision and operational control over the Police Provincial Offices of Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, and the Bacolod City Police Office.
“The activation of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region marks a significant step in ensuring a more responsive and community-oriented policing system. This reorganization reflects our commitment to upholding peace and order, as well as our dedication to serving and protecting the people of Negros Island and its neighboring provinces,” Marbil said.
With the leadership of President Marcos and PNP under Marbil’s command, this transition represents a major step forward in ensuring peace, order, and security in the Negros Island Region.
The activation of PRO NIR is a testament to the administration’s dedication to bringing government services closer to the people, fostering stability, and enhancing the overall safety of communities in the region.
Brig. Gen. Jack Limpayos Wanky has been designated as the officer-in-charge of the PRO-NIR while the key leadership positions are Col. Dennis Araño Esguerra, who assumed the role of OIC Deputy Regional Director for Administration; Col. Gilbert Tanchuan Gorero, designated as OIC Chief of Regional Staff; and Col. Ronaldo Planco Palomo, who has been assigned as OIC of the Regional Operations Management Division.
The activation also marked a historic milestone in the realization of a more autonomous and efficient regional police force for the Negros Island Region.
