Philippine National Police personnel have arrested a suspected “high-value target” drug pusher and confiscated a firearm and suspected dried marijuana from his possession during an anti-narcotics operation in Bais City, Negros Oriental.
Arrested was one Roy Villanueva Ardoza, 34 years old, married, and a resident of MRH 3, Barangay La Paz in Bais City.
He was identified as a “high-value target” and is in the drugs watchlist of the Negros Oriental PNP Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, a police report said.
Personnel of the Bais City Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit, under the supervision of their police chief, Chief Insp. Ronilo S. Macasilhig, arrested Ardoza around 11 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Talungon in Bais City.
The suspect was caught allegedly in the act of having in his possession one caliber 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six live round of ammunition.
The suspect failed to present a gun license and other pertinent documents to possess and carry the said firearm.
Incidental to the lawful arrest, a search was conducted which led to the confiscation from the suspect one plastic sachet containing suspected dried marijuana leaves, a smoke pipe with suspected dried marijuana leaves, one electronic weighing scale, a pair of scissors, assorted empty heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, assorted hand-rolled tin foils, one improvised lamp, one disposable lighter and one plastic straw.
He is now detained as charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and for violation of Repubic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act as amended.
Meanwhile, police also arrested another suspected drug personality in San Jose town around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A police report identified the suspect as Nelson Tenebro, Sr., who was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Basiao, San Jose.
Recovered from his possession were two pieces of transparent plastic sachet with suspected shabu, a syringe and needles, a plastic pack of empty plastic sachets and a motorcycle, among others.
The suspect is also under detention as appropriate criminal charges are to be filed against him. (Judy Flores Partlow)
