The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office has relieved four police chiefs for going easy on drug pushers and users.

NORPPO Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, Supt. Reynold Andot, told reporters that Supt. Bonifacio Tecson has replaced Supt. Resty Santos of Tanjay City Police Station, while Senior Insp. Rolando Asidoy took over the post of Senior Insp.Enreque Asonio of the Zamboangita Municipal Police Station.

Supt. Dominiciano Distrito Jr. of Bayawan City Police Station, and Senior Insp. Antonio Jabar of Pamplona Municipal Police Station were also replaced.

Andot said the four police chiefs have not complied with the implementation of Oplan TokHang, an operation where drug pushers and users are visiteid in their homes and requested to voluntarily surrender.

The relieved police chiefs were transferred to the Norppo headquarters in Camp Francisco Fernandez in Agan-an, Sibulan town.

Andot also said the police stations of Sta. Catalina, Basay, and Tayasan are also being closely monitored for their implementation of Oplan TokHang, saying these stations need to step up their anti-drug drive.

Andot said there will be another shuffling of positions in the police stations if the police chiefs continuously fail to implement Oplan TokHang.

Out of the 25 police stations in Negros Oriental, three police chiefs were given another week to improve their anti-drug campaign. (AP)
