The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO) has received additional vehicles and equipment to boost their capabilities in crime fighting, operational and administrative capabilities.

Sr. Supt. Edwin Portento, the acting Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial director of Negros Oriental, confirmed on Monday that these were donated by the defunct Police Regional Office 18 (PRO-18) or the Negros Island Region (NIR), which was abolished last month.

Most of the items that were turned over to the NORPPO will be for the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) and other lower offices, he said.

The vehicles and equipment that NORPPO had received recently include one Mahindra Enforcer vehicle, one Man 6×6 Utility Truck, seven LTV Kia Scorpio vehicles, 10 M4 Cal. 5.56 rifle, seven M16 Cal. 5.56 Rifles, one NEGEV 5.56 Machine gun, one Kawasaki Rouser Motorcycle, one laptop computer, four Samsung J1 cellular phones, one DSLR Canon camera, three EOC Canon cameras, 20 tactical vests, 37 computer sets and 12 printers, a media release from the NORPPO said.

“This is a big help for us in our operational and administrative capabilities”, Portento stressed.

Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Ferraren led the blessing of the donated items during the regular Monday morning flag ceremony at which 2nd class Philippine National Police Academy cadets also paid a courtesy call on Sr. Supt. Edwin Portento. (Metro Post/with a report from Judy Flores Partlow/PNA)
