Police neutralize carnapping/shooting gang

Police have arrested three young men believed to be responsible for a series of shooting and motornapping incidents in the second district of Negros Oriental.

The suspects were arrested during the weekend by a joint team of operatives from the Provincial Highway Patrol Team headed by Inspector Robelito Mariano, Pamplona police headed by Sr. Insp. Antonio Jabar, the Regional Intelligence Unit headed by Chief Insp. Alarcon and the Sibulan police headed by Sr. Ins. Nelson Lamoco.

Lamoco identified the three as Bonifacio Providencia Aguilar, 23 years old, single, his nephews Arnel Providencia Cuevas, 18 years old and Rennel Torres, also 18 years of age, residents of Sitio Escaguit, Barangay Enrique Villanuva, in Sibulan.

Recovered from the utility box of the motorcycle driven by Aguilar is a .357 home made revolver with three live ammunition while recovered from the utility box of the motorcycle driven by Cuevas is a homemade 12 gauge shot gun with five live ammunition.

Their arrest came as a result of a hot pursuit operation after the group carnapped two motorcycles within one hour more or less on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in separate places.

The first incident was reported at 12:30 in the morning of May 19 at Sitio Obogon, Barangay Malalangsi in Pamplona.
The victim, a certain Michael Limbaga, 32 years old, married, and a resident of Sitio Bugang, Poblacion Pamplona, was flagged down by the suspect at gun point and shot in the left arm.

At about 1:20 in the morning of the same day, another shooting incident took place at Sitio Buswang, Barangay Bio-os in Amlan where the victim was identified as Rigolo Pampilo, 26 years old, single, a resident of Sitio Bondon, barangay Azagra in Tanjay City.

His red Rusi motorcycle was carnapped at gunpoint. He sustained a gunshot wound in the left arm and stomach and is now recuperating at a local hospital.

Earlier, in April 25, 2016, a motorcycle owned by a certain Kenny was reported carnapped at gun point also in Malalangsi, Pamplona and the said motorcycle was found at 3 o’clock dawn last May 19, completely burned in front of the Opao Elementary School along the national highway in Tanjay.

Bonifacio Aguilar was arrested for frustrated murder and attempted murder on May 5, 2014 with a recommended bail bond from P120,000 to P200,000 while Arnel Providencia Cuevas was arrested for frustrated homicide and frustrated murder April 6 of last year in Escaguit, Enrique Villanueva in Sibulan town.
