Police seize .5M of shabu from minor

Anti-narcotics operatives have arrested a teenager and confiscated more than half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental close to midnight Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as a certain Shandy Sanon, 18 years old, a resident of Barangay Tinago in Dumaguete, a police report said.

Initial police investigation showed that at around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, a joint team of the Special Operations Group, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit, the Provincial Public Safety Company and the Dumaguete City Police station conducted an anti-illegal drugs operation at Barangay Taclobo in this capital.

During the operation, the law enforcers confiscated from the suspect at least 11 transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, one piece of plastic sachet containing suspected marijuana, a digital weighing scale, a lighter, and some cash.

The police said the suspected shabu recovered from the suspect weighed around 52 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of Php 613,000.00.

The suspect is now detained as charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act as amended are being filed against him.
