Police in Negros Oriental have seized close to P54.2 million worth of shabu during the first half of this year.
Based on its latest data, the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office seized 7.969 kg of shabu worth P54.195 million, along with 197 grams of marijuana worth P23,000.
In the same period, a total of 277 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted across the province.
Of the 293 persons arrested, 32 were high-value individuals, 250 were street-level individuals and 11 were not listed in the NOrPPO’s list of drug suspects.
“Majority of the illegal drugs seized during the first half of this year were from enhanced and sustained police operations as part of the Philippine National Police focus crimes,” Lt. Stephen Polinar, NOrPPO spokesperson, told the media Tuesday.
Polinar, who was also recently designated as the provincial chief of the Tourist Police, said they are securing places of convergence such as resorts, hotel and restaurants to curb the illegal drug trade.
He said uniformed police officers are out round-the-clock, whether on foot or mobile patrol, as part of regular anti-criminality operations. (Judy F. Partlow)
