The police chief of Dumaguete, Supt. James Goforth, has said they are looking into the possibility of filing appropriate charges against the parents of a four-year old child who was shot dead by his older brother, aged 6, early Wednesday.

Supt. James Goforth confirmed that the victim was accidentally shot once on the face while apparently playing with his sibling with a caliber .38 revolver that went off.

The accident took place around 8:30 a.m. in Upper Cantil-e, an outskirts barangay in Dumaguete City.

The police chief said the victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Goforth said the parents have turned over the gun, which investigators are checking for legitimate ownership.

The parents are definitely to be held responsible for the incident, he added. (PNA)
