The Public-Private Partnership Center (PPPC) reported Wednesday that there are 187 projects to be undertaken by the government and the private sector in the pipeline.
These projects are worth PHP2.636 trillion as of April 11.
The numbers increased from 176 projects worth PHP2.603 trillion reported on March 14.
According to the PPPC, 14 projects were added to the current list, three of which are national projects worth PHP13.58 billion and 11 are local projects amounting to PHP41.47 billion.
The national PPP projects that are new to the list include the PHP3.97-billion Last Mile Schools Green Energy and Connectivity Project between the Department of Education and WeGen Energy Philippines as its private sector proponent; the PHP4.3-billion Philippine Coast Guard Maritime Modernization Program, with the Maritime Technology Group as its private sector partner; and the PHP5.31-billion Subic International Airport Project between the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and the Cerberus Asia Pacific Investments, LLC.
Nine of the local PPP projects added to the list were from the Provincial Government of Palawan, which include the expansion of El Nido Port Integrated Terminal Exchange (PHP1.75 billion); the expansion of Buliluyan Port Integrated Terminal Exchange (PHP1.7 billion); Sandoval Airport Development Project (PHP580 million); Solar Power Garden Project (PHP3 billion); the establishment of Sewage and Solid Waste Treatment Facility (PHP600 million); the establishment of Multi-Specialization Hospital (PHP400 million); the Calauit Safari Park Improvement Project (PHP150 million); the development of Dumaran Magrove Forest River Cruise (PHP100 million); and the development of Farm Tourist Sites: Provincial Tourism and Agricultural Development Center (PTADC).
The local government units (LGUs) of Iloilo City and Tagbilaran City would be undertaking the PHP18.27-billion Iloilo Global City and the PHP17-million Tagbilaran City Dialysis Center.
Under the PPP Code, only national projects worth PHP15 billion are subject to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board’s approval.
On the other hand, LGU projects — regardless of the cost — can roll out their own PPPs subject to the approval of the Sangguniang Bayan, the local legislative body.
Meanwhile, two projects from the previous list were moved to the monitoring database following the award of their contracts.
These include the Bacolod Super City Project amounting to PHP2.1 billion and the USWAG Condominium Complex Project worth PHP2.54 billion.
The PPPC, on the other hand, delisted the upgrade, expansion, operations, and maintenance of the Kalibo International Airport, an unsolicited national project costing PHP3.26 billion under the Department of Transportation.
PPPC said the delisting of the project is due to “failure of negotiations in case of unsolicited proposals.” (PNA)
