Here are some preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus, especially for those students and professionals coming home to Negros Oriental in the time of CoViD-19. These should also apply to balikbayans, other people coming home, and visitors to the Province:

Before leaving the house:

-Prepare a small bottle of Lysol, and a small bottle of alcohol.

-Place in your pocket the items you would need at the airport (i.e. the two spray bottles, valid ID) so you would not have to keep touching the zippers and the insides of your bag.

-Wear a facial mask to avoid touching your face.

At the airport and on the plane:

– Avoid touching anything unnecessarily.

– Spray commonly-touched surfaces before touching them (ex. handlebars of pushcarts, metal benches, table tops)

– Spray Lysol on your personal belongings after touching them

– Regularly clean your hands with alcohol or go wash them with soap for about 20-28 seconds.

– Avoid areas where the crowd is.

Upon arrival in Dumaguete:

– Spray the handlebar of your luggage with Lysol and alcohol after claiming it from the carousel (Some personnel had handled it at the airport.) and before carrying it out of the terminal (or before allowing a family member to carry it out for you).

– Avoid touching people, and keep about a three-feet distance from them. Reserve beso-beso with family members and friends for later.

-Leave your luggage for a few minutes outside the house and under the heat of the sun.

– Take a bath immediately upon arriving home.

– Put your clothes worn during the trip straight into the washing machine.
