The joint team is led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilfredo Alarcon Jr., who is at the same time OIC of the Dumaguete City Police.
He said Ciano’s arrest had connections with previous drug haul in Dumaguete during the Buglasan, and with the forthcoming fiesta of the city, authorities are up on their toes to prevent entry of illegal drugs, as one of the marching orders of City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo.
Meanwhile, two persons deprived of liberties (PDL) at the Negros Oriental Detention and Rehabilitation Center (NODRC) were placed in an isolation room after found in their possession one pack of cigarette which is not allowed. And while inside the “bartolina”, they were caught sniffing shabu by Security Officer 1 Joven Villa. Thus, a case for violation of Section 5 and Section 11 of RA 9165 is being readied against the two PDLs identified as Howard Cabano who is facing a case for illegal drugs and Wilcharles Lazarte who is jailed for rape charges.
On the other hand, PDEA agents with their K-9 unit conducted a surprise inspection at the district jail in Bajumpandan yesterday morning. PDEA provincial team leader Agent Grace Cruz disclosed no drugs were found. (Juancho Gallarde)
