Rep. Pryde Henry Teves of the 3rd District in Negros Oriental has confirmed that he switched his political affiliations for awhile now.

Teves, who is head of the Lakas-CMD political party in the 3rd District, however, clarified that he may have changed political party lines but did not take his oath yet officially, along with his uncle, former Finance Sec Margarito “Gary” Teves.

From Lakas-CMD, the Teveses are now affiliated with the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

He said proof of this is that his chairmanship of an important committee in Congress was supposed to be intended for an NPC stalwart.

Teves said he and Rep. George P. Arnaiz and former Sec. Gary Teves will be working as a team in the Province but the final line-up will depend on the results of a survey and consultation to be conducted next month.

Asked who would most likely run for vice governor under his uncle Gary Teves’ lineup, the young legislator said the most likely candidate would be former NORSU president Dr. Henry Sojor.

Teves believes that there can only be two major political forces in next year’s elections so that a number of political parties are already signing up with the United Nationalist Alliance to fight against the Liberal Party in 2013.

He stressed that he has no choice but to align with the NPC and it is but natural that those who believe in his leadership will follow their leader, referring to Lakas stalwarts in the province. (PNA)
