Rescued Hawksbill turtle returned to sea

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in cooperation with the local authorities including Municipal Agriculturist Mary Marjurie Abella, rescued an endangered Hawksbill sea turtle that was accidentally caught by a net, and released it back to the sea on Thursday.

With an estimated weight of 100 kilograms, a length of 100 and a width of 93 both in centimeters, the sea turtle was found by a local fisherman, Rigo Devero, a fisherman from Barangay Tampocon 2, at 7 am of the same day.

Upon clearance from DENR, local authorities released the sea turtle back to the sea an hour after. (PR)
