The City of Dumaguete and the Province of Negros Oriental will evaluate the performance of temporary (Job Order) employees to see if they deserve to have their contracts extended for another six months.
Both Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria and Gov. Roel Degamo have ordered the review of the performances of hundreds of Job Order and casual employees of the Dumaguete City government and the Provincial Capitol, as they prepare for another three-year term in office.
Mayor Sagarbarria said non-performing Job Order employees, whose contracts will end on June 30, and non-performing casual workers, will be terminated.
Sagarbarria said he has received reports that several employees disappear after punching in, and appear again just in time to punch out in the afternoon. He said he cannot allow these employees to continue getting their pay from the City Hall.
Meanwhile, Negros Oriental Governor Degamo will conduct a loyalty check among his temporary employees.
He said Job Order employees should have his trust and confidence, as he expressed dismay over reports that some Capitol employees even placed bets against him in the last elections.
“I cannot expect a harmonious working relationship with them,” he lamented. (PNA/JG)
