Traditional politics has reared its ugly head in the Supreme Court, creating a lot of noise that is reverberating across the country.

Associate Justices are calling for the resignation of Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno. The Senate, on the other hand, is preparing to impeach her. Employees of the Supreme Court are divided on the issue. The Philippine Judges Association was reported to have issued a statement seeking for the resignation of the Chief Justice.

But this statement is being questioned by RTC Judges across the country, who have expressed the need for impartiality and to conduct themselves in such manner as to preserve the dignity of the judicial office and the impartiality and independence of the judiciary.

Our very own RTC and MCTC Judges in Negros Oriental are among the hundreds of Judges who remain true to their oath, as it has become apparent that the controversial PJA statement was only made by 20 of its officials and that it does not speak for the rest of the 1,200 RTC Judges across the country.

The Judges are saying that they must remain neutral and let legal processes take the proper course.

We applaud our Judges for taking a stand and giving flesh to the principles of neutrality and independence. May they serve as an inspiration to the many others, even outside of the Judiciary, who have seen through the deception, lies and intrigue of many who are, consciously or unconsciously, working for the downfall of this government and this nation.
