Cong. Chiquiting Sagarbarria has lauded the health frontliners in the fight against the Covid 19 in Negros Oriental, saying they are doing a very good job despite the many limitations.

In an interview, Sagarbarria said Negros Oriental is not adequately equipped to fight the virus. “We are short of ventilators and there is no medicine for Covid 19 yet. All our doctors can do is to support the patient in any way they can. Those who are strong could recover,” he said.

The Province of Negros Oriental is renting 10 ventilators at P35,000 a month. Dr. Liland Estacion said the Purchase Orders are now being prepared and the rental will start once the ventilators are operational.

The doctors in Negros Oriental have also lauded the Enhanced Community Quarantine Order of Gov. Roel Degamo, especially as the number of persons suspected of having the coronavirus was seen to be rising during the previous week.

The doctors said an ECQ, whereby people would be forced to stay at home, would be the best solution to prevent the further spread of the virus.

Sagarbarria, meanwhile, continued distributing food packs in the 174 barangays of the second district.

“We have to give assistance to our constituents, especially those displaced by this crisis, because a hungry man is an angry man,” Sagarbarria continued.
