A third year Psychology student of Silliman University bested nine other candidates to win Wednesday the Miss Dumaguete title at the Lamberto Macias Sports & Cultural Center.

Samantha Villahermosa, 23, of barangay Batinguel, also won Best in Gown, Best Speaker, and Best in Swimwear.

Samantha is into kickboxing, soccer, and cooking. She is the daughter of Atty. Obdulio and Angelyn Estavillo Villahermosa.

The first runner-up is Deborah Villaflores, 21, a Tourism Management student at the Asian College. Villaflores, a resident of barangay Tabuc-tubig, was Best in Costume and was crowned Miss Sandurot 2016. Second runner-up is Charlene Futalan, who is Miss TNT Texters’ Choice.

Third runner-up is Monessa Gonzales, who was also adjudged Miss Photogenic. Fourth runner up is Junelyn Calongcong.

Other special awards went to Jo-an Arbas as Darling of the Press; Miss Professionalism is Frerolyn Maria Espina; Miss Photogenic is Malikka Peñalosa; Best in Talent is Natalile Dale Portugaleza, a trained dancer.

Chairman of the board of judges was voice talent Lily Anne Nichols. With her were 2014 Miss Australia-World finalist Natalie Connor, international business and development management strategist Faisal Mamicpic, Rio Olympic silver medalist weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz of the Philippine Air Force, and Alexis Winters of Smart Communications Business Development.
