The Liga ng mga Barangay Kagawad is organizing this year’s 21K Dumaguete Half Marathon for Sunday, Sept. 22.

According to Piapi Brgy. Councilor Marife Ligon-Cordova, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay Kagawad in Dumaguete, the half marathon aims to drum up support for the celebration of the annual Sandurot Festival by involving the hundreds of sports enthusiasts in the Province.

The route of the half marathon will pass through the barangays of Dumaguete: from the gunstart at Quezon Park in Barangay Poblacion 4, the race will take the runners to Tinago, going south to Calindagan, Mangnao, Banilad, going west to Bajumpandan, Cantil-e, Talay, Cadawinonan, northward to Batinguel, Motong, Piapi, Bantayan, along the waterfront in Looc, and back to Quezon Park for the finish line.

Registration fee for the half marathon is P650.00, inclusive of a finisher’s medal, finisher’s shirt, and trophies and cash prices for podium finishers.

There’s also a Fun Run category for the 5K distance.

Deadline for the registration is on Sept. 15 at DermCorner, courtesy of Maripol Rotea-Tecson. Race director is triathlete Dongdo Cordova.

The Sandurot Half Marathon is also organized by the Tourism Office, the Dumaguete Adventure Runners & Striders (DARS) led by Albert Tecson, the Larga-Biya running team headed by Irwin Ramas Uypitching, in cooperation with Globe.

The Sandurot Festival, led by the Dumaguete City Tourism Office, is slated from Sept. 20 to 29. The Sandurot Streetdance is on Sept. 28, according to Tourism Officer Jacqueline Veloso-Antonio.
