In support of the implementation of the Mother Tongue-Based Multi Lingual Education, the Division of Dumaguete City of the Department of Education piloted the Sugilanon sa Kahanginan, a story-telling on air.

“The project aims to deepen the implementation of MTB-MLE through listening and speaking encounters,” said Juditha O. Mapue, education program supervisor, during the launching of the project.

She added that it would also reinforce the pupils’ comprehension skills, and provide an avenue for appreciation of local culture contained in the stories.

In the program, pupils listen and participate actively in the question and answer portion, and teachers give feedback and classroom activities designed in support of the program.

During the launching of the project, Cong. George P. Arnaiz lauded the endeavor as “very timely because the K to12 education program was signed into law by President PNoy.”

The program is aired on radio DYWC Radyo Bandilyo, DYWC Happy FM, and DYGB Power 91 FM. (Claude Sun)
