Nominations for the search for 2019 Babayeng Garbo and Grupong Garbo sa Katilingban is still on.
On its third year, this annual search conducted by the Provincial Commission on Women (PCW) honors the outstanding women and women’s groups for women empowerment and gender equality.
Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person Josie Columna of the provincial government of Negros Oriental said the search is open to all women and organizations working or doing development work that contributed to the empowerment of rural women and the promotion of gender equality in any of the following fields: agriculture, fishery, home management, environmental protection, child care, livelihood, social services, and health.
For Babayeng Garbo Award, the nominee must have no pending case in any court of law.
She must be involved in community work for at least two years.

For the Grupong Garbo, the organization must submit a certification from barangay captain, municipal mayor or municipal social welfare officer recognizing its existence.
Columna said for both categories, nominations must be officially endorsed by any of the following: barangay captain, municipal mayor, and legitimate socio-civic or religious organization.
The Babayeng Garbo carries a grand prize of P25,000 while Grupong Garbo winner will receive P50,000.
Deadline for submission of nominations is on Nov. 22, 2019
