The provincial search for the The Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year (TOBOY) in Negros Oriental concluded on April 12 with a series of validation and interviews of the nominees.
The annual TOBOY award of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is designed to give recognition to barangay officials who have shown exemplary performance in discharging their functions.
DILG Provincial Director Jofralito Lorico said the award is categorized into municipal and city levels and each level is composed of punong barangay, kagawad, treasurer, secretary, and Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson.
From the six component cities in the province, 14 barangay officials were nominated and 18 from the municipalities in different categories.
The nominees have been assessed based on their performance or accomplishments, innovations, exemplary leadership, and final interviews.
Of the number of barangay officials who participated in the provincial search, five top-ranking winners in different categories will automatically become the official candidates for the regional TOBOY awards.
Lorico said the outstanding barangay officials will receive plaques of recognition and corresponding cash awards to be given during the ceremony scheduled next month. (PIA)
