Education Secretary Armin Luistro will address the more than 500 members of the Foundation University Graduating Class of 2013 during the commencement exercises on March 24.
The commencement exercises will be held at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall starting at 1:30 p.m.
Luistro will also be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree by Foundation University for his many accomplishments as education secretary.
Among the changes at the Department of Education since 2010 under Luistro’s leadership is the addition of two years to the basic education curriculum under the K +12 program.
The Department of Education, under Luistro, has also instituted the teaching of sex education from fifth grade up to the fourth year in high school.
The challenge of embracing digital technology through the use of e-learning is also being explored.
This will be Luistro’s first visit to Foundation University.
