The Department of Science & Technology-Science Education Institute has announced the qualifiers for undergraduate scholarship programs.
The names of qualifiers are posted at DOST-SEI’s website. They will now enjoy four years of scholarship, a P40,000subsidy for tuition and school fees, a P10,000 book allowance per academic year, and a P7,000 monthly living allowance for the academic year, clothing allowance, travel allowance, among other benefits.
The scholars have to be enrolled in any of the science and technology priority courses in any state university/college or private school identified as a Center of Excellence or a Center of Development.
This year’s qualifiers represent five percent of the 1,583 students who took the nationwide qualifying exam on Oct. 20, 2019 in five exam centers in Negros Oriental. Of the 80 qualifiers, 59 were classified under the R.A. 7687 program while 21 belong to the Merit program.
The undergraduate scholarships program aims to stimulate talented Filipino youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science & technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified human resources who can steer the country towards national progress.
The scholarships are open to all graduating senior high school students enrolled in public and private schools.
The DOST Negros Oriental Provincial Science & Technology Center will coordinate with the qualifiers, and announce the orientation schedule and signing of the scholarship agreement as soon as the contracts are available. (PR)
