Tournament’s top seed master caliber Ryan Trajera lived up to his billing and emerged champion in the just-ended Siaton Inagta Open Non-Masters Chess Championship 2011 held at the Siaton Gymnasium and sponsored by the local government unit of Siaton, and facilitated by the Siaton Chess Club in coordination with Negros Club 64 Inc.
Negros Club President and one-time a chess child prodigy Michael Barron tied with Trajera with identical six points out of the possible seven, but settled to 2nd place via a lower tie-break points. Meanwhile, the Province’s top youth and Silliman University’s current board one varsity Junaico Segismar landed 3rd place with 5.5points.
The trio won cash prizes in the amount of P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
Landing in the 10 consolation prizes are: Rudell Siglos, Engr. Arnold Somoza, Bobby Torres, Tolentino Gemon, Jason Mongcopa, John Anthony Pane, Almer Bañaria, Robert Sunga, Sherwin Polancos, and Kirby Piñero.
In the women’s category, the top three winners are: Judelyn Bungcasan, Kritine Raguing and Razyl Mercado.
Siatanons top placers are: John Anhtony Pane, Robert Sunga and Arven Manganohoy.
A total of P10,000 cash gifts were awarded to the winners.
