A 400-meter shoreline protection project was recently completed in Poblacion in the town of Sibulan.
According to Engr. Martin Fortin, the shoreline project focused on reinforcing the seawall with concrete.
He added that construction of the shoreline protection continues in barangay Ajong and in barangay Looc.
The newly-completed shoreline spans from the port terminal to the multi-purpose building which, Fortin said, offers both practical and aesthetic enhancements to the coastal vicinity.
The construction was initiated in September last year, and finished in close to seven months. The entire project cost P6.3 million.
The three barangays of Poblacion, Ajong, and Looc were identified as priority areas for the construction because of their higher population density living along the coastline.
Fortin noted that such areas with more houses built there are “more prone” to hazards.
He said the shoreline development in Ajong will be completed this month, and the seawall in barangay Looc in Sibulan will most likely be completed in June. (Claire Yvonne Alumbre/SU Masscom)
