Foundation University’s School of Industrial Engineering and Technology, and the College of Education are preparing for Level 3 accreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation.

PACUCOA is a private accrediting agency which gives formal recognition to an educational institution by attesting that its academic program maintains excellent standards in its educational operations, in the context of its aims and objectives.

Dr. Eva C. Melon, university vice president for academic affairs, said the two colleges have done extensive preparations to meet the accreditation’s standards.

Melon said that the SIET has been holding Faculty Immersion Programs. Members of the faculty have visited factories to gather information about the new innovations that the companies offer. They have done this as per PACUCOA’s recommendation.

They also had their Faculty Extension in which they had helped the Barangay Liptong Small Coconut Farmers Association in Liptong, Valencia. The SIET faculty are still in the process of completing all the requirements needed for the accreditation.

The College of Education, on the other hand, is now ready for the 3rd level of accreditation.

Dr. Melon said attaining this level 3 status means that in addition to the benefits granted to schools whose status is level 1 or level 2, they will enjoy the authority to offer new courses allied to existing level 3 courses without the need for prior approval. Level 3-accredited university can also offer new graduate programs, open/learning distance education, extension classes, and to participate in transnational education. (FU Journalism students)
